Hateful Eight

Quentin Tarantino, a guy who definitely had a very interesting Sunday at the Golden Globes, used the endless series of press obligations surrounding the big night to reveal some pretty daunting plans for "The Hateful Eight": flipping the very Tarantino-y movie into a play. "I’ve thought it out completely," Tarantino said during a post-Globes conversation with the Wrap's Sharon Waxman. "I’m just waiting for this [awards] season to be over so I can write it. I gotta put myself there and write it for this."

In fact, Tarantino revealed, Harvey Weinstein originally wanted him to make "The Hateful Eight" a play but was promptly outvoted by Tarantino himself. "[Harvey] said, 'Let’s just say this out loud before we commit to doing the movie,'" Tarantino said. "And I was like, 'Look, I could. But I like the mystery aspect and the mystery aspect will really only work in the movie. And I have the 70mm and I have the snow. So let me do that.'"

Of course, Weinstein did indeed let him do that. However, as anyone who has actually seen "The Hateful Eight" can attest, the film's decidedly minimal number of locales is practically begging for a play adaptation. With "Kill Bill 3" also apparently in the beginning stages of actually (finally) becoming a thing that exists, Tarantino is setting himself up for a busy few years of very Tarantino-y creations.
