The CW aired a big special on Warner Bros.' upcoming slate of DC Comics' inspired films Tuesday evening including "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."

Out of the manyreveals clued viewers into a big question viewers may have about a movie called "Batman v Superman": Why are the Man of Steel and the Caped Crusader fighting?

As we've noted before, this is the first time Bruce Wayne/Batman is meeting Superman, an alien from another planet. His first impression of Superman was at the end of "Man of Steel" when Supes and General Zod were tearing Metropolis apart.

Superman didn't realize it then, but Bruce Wayne was present to see the destruction first hand.

Because of that, Batman sees Superman as a potential threat to the world.

"At the end of 'Man of Steel' Zod was fighting Superman. There was lasers ripping apart buildings and things were blowing up," said Ben Affleck in the special. "Bruce Wayne blames Superman."

"You've got to remember, this is the first time Superman ever meets Batman," DC Comics chief creative officer Geoff Johns further explained. "Batman knows Superman was involved with something that had fire come out of the sky [to] destroy Metropolis."

Superman actor Henry Cavill said the Man of Steel also sees Batman as a vigilante, taking the law into his own hands.

However, the rivalry goes a little further than that.

One of the rumors going around is that billionaire Lex Luthor will probably help pit the two heroes against each other, too, and it seems like that very well may be the case.

Both Jesse Eisenberg, who plays the billionaire, and director Zack Snyder pretty much confirmed this during the television special.

"Lex feels competitive with Bruce Wayne. He's learned everything about him," says Eisenberg. "Lex hates Superman, has learned everything about him."

"[He's] kind of a puppet master, kind of controlling these two heroes forcing them into conflict," said Snyder.

Geoff Johns also hinted that Luthor becomes a "different kind of adversary" for Batman and Superman. Perhaps we'll get to see Luthor in that Kryptonite warrior suit that's been teased after all.

"Batman v Superman" is in theaters March 25.
