lindsay lohan scary movie 5

After promoting her "Scary Movie 5" film this week, Lindsay Lohan showed up to the movie's premiere 30 minutes after the red carpet was set to close. The actress will be attending the Coachella music festival this weekend before heading to a rehab facility May 2.

The "Iron Man 3" UK premiere was moved for Margaret Thatcher's funeral.

For his 87th birthday, Hugh Hefner received a 3-D collaboration of Playboy magazines from his 26-year-old wife, Crystal Harris.

Remember the Troll dolls of the '60s? DreamWorks Animation has acquired the brand and plans to give the franchise new life. The studio originally had plans to make a film back in 2010.

Amanda Bynes took to Twitter to say that neither her parents nor her friends speak on her behalf. These are the latest in a bizarre round of tweets the Nickelodeon child star has put out in recent weeks after displaying erratic behavior since last year.

Warner Bros. revealed another poster for "The Hangover Part III" featuring the Wolfpack. The film hits theaters May 24.

John Goodman Kidnaps The Wolfpack In New 'Hangover III' Trailer

the hangover part 3

The latest "Hangover III" trailer finally gives us a look at the film's plot.

Amid pig masks and Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong) in prison, it looks like John Goodman's mysterious character is seeking out the Wolfpack to track down Chow, who apparently owes him upwards of $21 million.

From there, it's up to Phil (Bradley Cooper), (Zach Galifianakis), and Stu (Ed Helms) to find Chow, an adventure that appears to send the crew to Tijuana.

If you're concerned about the third installment in "The Hangover" franchise being a complete rehash of the last two films, we've heard from folk at Warner Bros. it will be vastly different.

After viewing the latest trailer it seems that way.

The finale also shows the pack returning to Vegas, the location of the first film, which would bring the series full circle.

Goodman and Melissa McCarthy join the returning cast of Cooper, Galifianakis, Helms, Jeong and Justin Bartha.

"The Hangover Part III" opens at theaters May 24.

Check out the trailer below:

After viewing the trailer, here are a few things we picked up on:

Those guys in the pig masks director Todd Phillips was teasing last year on Instagram are not of the Wolfpack. They're working with Goodman's character.

Jackie Robinson Movie '42' Hits 'Scary Movie 5' Out Of The Park—Here's Your Box-Office Roundup

0
0

jackie robinson 42Warner Bros. baseball film, "42," chronicling Jackie Robinson's career turned out to be a surprise hit this weekend.

The film earned more opening weekend than any other baseball movie based on a true-life story to date.

Meanwhile, things aren't looking well for the "Scary Movie" franchise.

The latest installment featuring Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen earned the least amount of any film in the franchise.

Worth noting is Danny Boyle's small release "Trance" which jumped up nearly 20 spots on the box-office list this week.

Out of the top ten this week include the film adaptation of "The Host."

"Twilight" author Stephanie Meyers hoped her next film venture would take off much like her vampire romance. Instead, the film has fallen flat in its third weekend. The film, which cost an estimated $40 million to make has earned $45 million worldwide.

Also out of the top ten is Halle Berry's "The Call" and Tina Fey's "Admission."

Here are this week's winners and losers in Hollywood:

10. Ryan Gosling's "Place Beyond the Pines" sneaks in with $4 million to round out the top ten. The Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper film added 484 theaters to its 514 total count this weekend. Last weekend, the movie was earning $279,000 per theater. The film cost an estimated $15 million to make.

9. Tyler Perry's "Temptation" continues to fall from the top ten in week three with $4.5 million. The film, with Vanessa Williams and Kim Kardashian, has earned $45.4 million.

8. "Oz the Great and Powerful" earns another $5 million this week. In its sixth week, the Disney film featuring James Franco is closing in on $500 million at the box office worldwide.

7. "Olympus Has Fallen" dives two spots this weekend earning $4.9 million. Gerard Butler's return to action films has earned $87.2 million worldwide, but it's not a big hit overseas, with only $5.3 million in international ticket sales.

6. The 3D return of "Jurassic Park" to theaters brings in another $8.8 million. In its second week, the 1993 film has drawn $31.9 million.

5. The "Evil Dead" reboot drops four spots and 63% in week two earning $9.5 million. The Tri-Star horror film has earned $51.5 million worldwide in two weeks. Not bad for a film which cost an estimated $17 million to make.

4. "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" earns another $10.8 million in its third weekend. Dropping two spots this week, the sequel to the 2009 film has earned $270.7 million worldwide. At this point, it looks like "Retaliation" will beat out the $302.5 million worldwide total of "G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra."

3. DreamWorks Animation's "The Croods" holds third place again this weekend with $13.2 million. The caveman flick featuring Nicolas Cage and Emma Stone has earned $385 million worldwide.

2. Lindsay Lohan's "Scary Movie 5" came in second opening weekend with $15.2 million. That's the lowest opening for the franchise since "Scary Movie 2" earned $20.5 million. The other three installments have grossed more than $40 million opening weekend.

1. Warner Bros. Jackie Robinson biopic, "42," is a home run smash with $27.3 million. The movie blew away the opening-weekend record for a baseball film based on a true story. In comparison, 2011's "Moneyball" from Sony Pictures earned $19.5 million upon its debut in September.

Aubrey Plaza Was Kicked Out Of The MTV Movie Awards After Bizarre Stunt

aubrey plaza will ferrell mtv movie awards

One of the strangest moments of the MTV Movie Awards last night was when "Parks and Rec" actress Aubrey Plaza ran onto the stage barefoot and attempted to pry the golden popcorn award for Comedic Genius from Will Ferrell's hands.

The moment appeared to be a failed stunt reminiscent of Kanye's 2009 VMA stage moment.

Though Farrell joked that the bit was staged, it turns out the act was an attempt at a publicity stunt for Plaza's upcoming film, "The To Do List," which the actress had written across her chest.

According to MTV, Aubrey was escorted out of the awards by network executives and the head of Viacom security during the following upcoming break.

The film, out August 16, follows Brandy Clark (Aubrey Plaza) as she attempts to accomplish a list of items before heading to college in the fall.

The movie also stars Bill Hader, Rachel Bilson, Andy Samberg, and Connie Britton.

Here's another shot showing the awkward tension on stage:

And, here's a clearer image of the film title scrawled across Plaza:

The actress later took to Twitter calling the stage onslaught a success:

Jamie Foxx Is Completely Blue As The Villain In 'Amazing Spider-Man' Sequel

The first images of Jamie Foxx as the "Amazing Spider-Man" sequel villain have hit the web.

Foxx was filming scenes for upcoming film in New York last evening, and looked completely unrecognizable in blue makeup as Electro.

The actor confirmed last year he would be playing the electricity-controlling Spidey foe.

Check out some of the images below:

If you're a Spider-Man fanatic, you're most likely more familiar with the version of the villain in a green and yellow costume

However, at the end of last year Foxx told MTV the new version of Electro would be different from the comics.

"They know that it has to make sense in 2013, so the suit is really slick," Foxx told MTV. "It's actually black. It's a new age."

Die-hard fans will know this confirms that Foxx will be the "Ultimate" blue version of Electro making him part of the Ultimate Marvel universe.

Here's everything we know about Ultimate Electro:

  • He's bald
  • Has severe burn scars
  • Wears a black leather outfit
  • Among other powers, he can fly. So don't be surprised if we see Foxx take to the skies.
  • He goes by the name of Max Dillon

The Ultimate Electro storyline also leads to a crossover in the larger Marvel universe with S.H.I.E.L.D. and "The Avengers" team. The Avengers, of course, are Marvel property owned by Disney, whereas, Sony has the rights to Spider-Man.

The blue version of the villain has been featured in recent cartoons on Disney XD's "Ultimate Spider-Man along with others from Spidey's "Sinister Six" group of villains.

The "Amazing Spider-Man" sequel won't be out in theaters until May 2014.

iron man 3 explosion

When "Iron Man 3" hits theaters in Japan it will be offered in 4-D

4-D effects make the audience "feel" the effects of the film in addition to viewing them.

The 4-D technology comes from South Korean company CJ Group which manages Asia's largest theater chain.

Theaters featuring the capability can include anything ranging from seat motion and vibration to jets or air and water, mist, strobe lighting, smoke, aromas, and bubbles.

Check out all of the effects here.

4-D isn't new to film.

4d movie effects bubbles"Avatar" was the first film to screen in 4-D in Seoul, South Korea back in 2009.

4-D has been utilized in theaters across South America, Peru, Thailand, and Mexico.

The Los Angeles Times reported last summer that CJ Group will be working to incorporate this into 200 US theaters in the next five years.

The technology takes anywhere from 16-20 days to program the effects into a movie.

The film will premiere in Nagoya, Japan on April 26 in the new format. "Iron Man 3" will be released in the U.S. May 3.

An Exclusive Look On Set Of 'The Amazing Spider-Man' Sequel In NYC

0
0

The sequel to "The Amazing Spider-Man" has been filming in New York City the past few days.

Earlier this week, Jamie Foxx was seen walking around in blue makeup as villain Electro. Last night, Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield were filming a romantic scene in Union Square.

The two play couple Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker in the film and are also a couple in real life.

If you're trying to spot filming for the production, it's not simple.

Crew members are telling curious passersby the movie being shot is called "London Calling"; however, anyone following the film will know that's simply the production name for the "Spider-Man" sequel.

The next film in the "Spider-Man" franchise will hit theaters next summer.

Here are some of photos from yesterday:

The crew was setting up to film on the South end of Union Square between 14th and 16th streets off of Broadway.

A small section was gated off near the subway entrance. Crew were stringing trees with what appeared to be Christmas lights. This was around 1:30 p.m.

Farther down, two men were working on a cool chalk mural of a skyscraper scene.

If you look closely, there was a smaller model the two were working off of to render the drawing:

A lone Gelato cart stood by itself near the end of the set.

Bonus points if you notice the piece of cardboard has the fake production title, "London Calling"!

By 6:00 p.m. filming still wasn't underway. The Gelato stand was moved and the mural was complete and blocked off with yellow tape.

The scene depicted an entire fake market, loosely replicating the one that takes place in Union Square come winter.

The stars didn't come out until really late.

There was a big crowd turnout for the shoot.

Garth Brooks's Ex-Partner Suing Him For Being 'Paranoid' And 'Deceitful'

garth brooks

Country singer Garth Brooks is being sued by his ex-partner for $425,000.

In a lawsuit filed this week in Los Angeles, Brooks' former production partner, Lisa Sanderson, claims she is owed compensation for work with the singer and that he ruined potential movie and television deals costing them millions.

According to the complaint, Sanderson left her employer to begin working for Brooks in '94 under the promise she would split all producer fees paid to his new entertainment company, Red Strokes, in connection with film and TV projects developed and produced 50-50.

In addition, Sanderson claims Brooks promised she would receive $250,000 bonus for "her loyalty and years of service" to him and the Red Strokes in the event the entertainment company ceased operation.

Sanderson says she worked with Brooks for 20 years helping the country music singer gain work on both television and film.

According to the suit, she helped Brooks get a part on "Golden Girls" spinoff "Empty Nests" during one of its final years in '94 and placed Brooks' songs in motion pictures including "To Make You Feel My Love" in "Hope Floats."

Sanderson claims she never received any of her 50% share of the producer fee, and after May 2011, stopped receiving compensation from the Red Strokes, referring to the singer as a "paranoid, angry, deceitful and vindictive man who will turn against those closest to him on a dime."

According to Sanderson, Brooks "ruined every potential motion picture deal" that came to Red Strokes who had a development deal with Disney for live-action and animated films.

Here are a few of the movies Brooks allegedly passed on:

1. "Saving Private Ryan"

Brooks supposedly turned down a role as a sniper in the Steven Spielberg film because he "wanted to be the star" and didn't want to share the spotlight with Tom Hanks and Matt Damon and didn't believe anyone "would ever want to see that movie."

2. "Twister"

Spielberg then supposedly sent the script for the 1996 Oscar-nominated film Brooks' way, but he turned it down because he wouldn't be front and center saying "the star of the film was the tornado."

3. Disney's $1 billion "Alice in Wonderland"

Brooks was set to be a producer on the Tim Burton film alongside Sanderson and record a song for the soundtrack until he demanded to co-write the script with Linda Woolverton.

Sanderson is suing for breach of oral contract and fraud for unpaid salary, bonuses, and punitive damages for a total of $425,000.

5 Huge Movie Roles Garth Brooks Allegedly Turned Down

0

garth brooks

Country singer Garth Brooks is being sued by his former partner for compensation she claims she's owed for work over the past 20 years.

His former partner, Lisa Sanderson, helped the singer get television roles and work in films.

However, you probably don't remember him in too many roles as he just appeared on "Golden Girls" spinoff  "Empty Nest" and served as executive producer on two TV movies.

However, that nearly wasn't the case. Brooks apparently had the opportunity to be in some big Hollywood blockbusters, but turned them down.

In a lawsuit filed, Sanderson, claims the singer "ruined every single film and television opportunity presented" to his company, Red Strokes.

Sanderson says the singer refused to work with award-winning actors, writers, and directors including Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks.

He also thought "he could do a better job writing the material himself."

"Saving Private Ryan" (1998)

Brooks turned down a role as a sniper in the Steven Spielberg film because he wasn't the star and didn't believe anyone wanted to see the film.

"Brooks refused to accept the role, indicating that he wanted to be the star and was unwilling to share the limelight with the rest of the ensemble cast ... Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, and Edward Burns."

(Source: Sanderson Complaint)

"Twister" (1996)

The singer passed on the role after being sent the script from Spielberg because, again, he didn't believe he was the star.

"Brooks also passed on that film, saying the star of the film was the tornado and Brooks wanted to be the star."

(Source: Sanderson Complaint)

A potential $30-$40 million project for Fox.

Long before "Nashville" hit ABC, Brooks reportedly pitched a show about a rockstar called "The Lamb."

Sanderson says Fox loved the idea, but it didn't move forward because he "refused to share his music publishing with Fox."

Movie Studio Lionsgate Ditches Its Famous 'Golden Gears' Intro For This New Logo

Lionsgate logo

Moviegoers may be surprised when they see the new Hunger Games movie, "Hunger Games: Catching Fire." The film will open with a new logo and intro-branding for Lionsgate, the studio behind the movie.

The Lionsgate movie-opening intro sequence is familiar to many: It begins as a closeup on a set of golden, grinding gears, and as the camera moves backward it emerges on the other side of a keyhole. The keyhole is on a gate, which then opens onto a dramatically cloudy sky where the Lionsgate logo lives.

No more. The studio was bored of it, according to the New York Times:

“It would have been really easy to say, ‘O.K., we want to freshen our logo. Let’s go buy a new gate,'” said Tim Palen, Lionsgate’s chief marketing officer. “But it’s hard to make a gate exciting. We decided to be bold.”

A new intro was designed by Devastudios. Check out the old one first to refresh your memory; the new one is below that.
